Lady Blackpearl (Legend of Mana) 20th anniversary remake
Costume notes:
Legend of Mana is my favorite game of all time, so naturally, I wanted to do Lady Blackpearl, my favorite character from the game, justice! I loved my 2011 cosplay of her, but my skills weren't where they needed to be to really get the costume how I wanted it. So I remade the costume from the ground up for the 20th anniversary of the game.
Construction notes:
Where to even begin.
The main piece is made of gold/black shot silk to capture the watercolor-like look of the game's artwork. The bunnysuit is boned and has a coutil strength layer, along with a bra separator wire at the plunging neckline. The skirt is reinforced with boning and millinery wire for shape, and attaches to the suit with hooks and eyes.
The leggings and gloves were handmade to match, and the floating wrapped pieces have wire in them to hold shape, and attach with snaps to the base layer.
The floating collar is PETG plastic with half pearls and painted plastic ornament halves for the pearls. It attaches with clear elastic straps and hooks and eyes that attach to the front of the suit.
The hammer is made from air-dry clay over a reinforced craft foam cone, and sculpted to have to somewhat organic, roughly carved shapes seen in the game. It was painted and dusted with gold mica to create a lustrous effect.
