Cosplay of Angela [Spellbinder class] from Trials of Mana remake
I love Angela as a character and have loved her character design for....at least two decades now. Obviously, I was overjoyed when not only did we get the original SNES game in English, but we got a very well-done remake. Of course I immediately planned a remake Angela cosplay, and this dark path new class added in the remake was a perfect fit.
This was a project and a half! The bodysuit is made of stretch pleather, plastic boning, and stretch mesh. The red and black were carefully patterned and colorblocked together, and the gold was appliqued, using stretch heat n bond and then sewn with triple stitch. The mix of stretch and structure was a fun challenge, especially as I patterned it all myself and
The boots were done with a similar method, using skin tone mesh to build tights with pleather applique. The spiked leg adornment was made with mystique spandex stuffed with polyfill, and snaps to the tights.
One of my favorite parts besides the bodysuit is the staff, which is made of a stick from the backyard and Worbla's Finest Art (classic Worbla). I sculpted the base of the dragon from pink foam and aluminum foil, skinned him in Worbla, and then painstakingly added individual Worbla scales. I used acrylic craft paints and real moss to give him a naturalistic look.
The armor/jewelry is all craft foam covered in the same gold vinyl I used on the bodysuit. All the gems are cast resin, and some contain UV glow powder to create a mystical look.
The wig is a Coscraft Alex in Magenta with an extra pony clip and lace piece. This was lowlighted with alcohol markers, curled, and teased.
